I've been wanting to update this blog regularly and keep it up to date with my latest shenanigans, but my brain just hasn't been cooperating. It seems that I've been so drained and burned out over the past few years that now, with no work to keep me busy, my mind has decided to take a full-time rest as well. Hahaha.
Anyway, I finally found the energy to sort through some photos to share with you. This will also be my last museum visit (in Cebu) for the year, because something strange happened during this visit. I won’t go into too much detail, as it still creeps us out to this day.
Last September, Erika and I unexpectedly found ourselves at the Archdiocesan Museum of Cebu. We hadn’t planned on going anywhere beyond attending Mass that weekend, but after the service, we felt a pull to keep exploring. One moment, we were walking out of the church; the next, we were stepping into a whole new place, surrounded by history and relics we hadn’t even known were so close.
Located beside Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral, the Archdiocesan Museum is a treasure trove of faith, history, and artistry. Housed in a beautiful, old stone building, the museum offered a serene atmosphere as we stepped inside. The scent of wood and aged stone instantly brought a sense of reverence. As we wandered through the exhibits, I could feel the layers of history unfolding around us.
Each room told its own story, from religious artifacts and statues of saints to intricately carved wooden pieces and delicate relics that have withstood the test of time. While these relics reminded me of the faith’s roots in Cebu, they also felt deeply personal, as if each piece carried the whispers of those who once held or created it. I could sense the connection between Cebu’s past and present, and it left a lasting impression on both Erika and me.
Despite the strange encounter, I’m grateful for this unplanned visit. There’s something refreshing about learning the history hidden in our own backyard, in places we might walk by without a second thought. The Archdiocesan Museum gave me a deeper appreciation for Cebu's legacy, and it reminded me that the most meaningful discoveries often come when we least expect them.
If you’re ever in Cebu city and find yourself with a free afternoon, you might want to stop by the Archdiocesan Museum. Who knows what stories you might uncover—or what unexpected moments might find you.
